Rev. Lancelot Clegge was also non-resident. Rev. James Pendlebury continued to officiate, and many records refer to him as "Clerk of Deane" and "Vicar of Deane." Of the vicar it is written, "the Incumbent, a lewde Minister, neither preaches himself, nor will suffer any other to preach." A lecturer was appointed before 1620, and James Pendlebury is not heard of until the next vicar is appointed.
